Traditional Chinese Medicine – targeted. integrated. effective.

TCM supplements the range of conventional medicine with a holistic approach.

In the practice for orthopedics Stäfa-Rapperswil, the focus is on symptoms of the musculoskeletal system, which can be effectively accompanied by acupuncture and other TCM procedures.

In addition, TCM therapies are very effective for a large number of functional disorders – for example in the case of sleep problems, stress symptoms, exhaustion, pregnancy support or to maintain health within the framework of Better Aging.

The treatment is based on evidence, individually adapted and, if desired, in close consultation with the medical care. All therapeutic steps are conveyed transparently.

Traditional Chinese Medicine FAQ

What is Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)?

Traditional Chinese medicine is a proven, holistic therapy system that is increasingly being used today in addition to conventional medicine – especially in the case of functional complaints.

Core principles of TCM:

    • Holistic approach: Body, psyche and environment are considered a coherent system.
    • Individual treatment: Therapies are based on differentiated diagnostics and are adapted to the patient.
    • Best practices: Acupuncture, manual techniques (Tuina), nutritional therapy and herbal remedies are used.
    • Areas of application: u.a for musculoskeletal symptoms, sleep disorders, stress symptoms or for prevention.
    • scientifically accompanied: Many procedures, in particular acupuncture, are well studied and complement conventional medical therapies effectively.
How does acupuncture work?

Acupuncture specifically stimulates points on the skin, muscles and fascia with fine needles. The stimuli affect local tissue structures, promote blood circulation and modulate myofascial tensions. At the same time, they affect the nervous system and support the body’s own pain and stress regulation.

Acupuncture is now used on the basis of evidence – especially for complaints of the musculoskeletal system, headaches, sleep disorders and stress-related symptoms.

When is TCM useful?

Traditional Chinese medicine is used specifically for functional complaints, chronic stress and to support regeneration – often in addition to conventional medical treatment.

Typical areas of application:

  • Musculoskeletal complaints: e.g.back, neck, joint and muscle pain
  • Pregnancy support: For nausea, sleep problems, exhaustion or childbirth preparation
  • Functional disorders: such as sleep problems, digestive problems or cycle irregularities
  • Stress and regulation problems: In internal restlessness, tension or psychosomatic complaints
  • Preventive Medicine: To promote resilience, metabolic regulation and better aging

TCM effectively supplements conventional medical therapies and is used individually, evidence-oriented and holistically.

I'm afraid of needles, can I still get TCM treatment?

Absolutely, it is quite possible to work without acupuncture needles, for example through acupressure, cupping, nutritional advice. We can look at this together.

How long does it take for TCM to work?

An improvement is often felt after the 1st session. However, the duration of a TCM treatment depends on the symptoms. While acute treatment in the majority of cases suggests rapid relief, it is possible that long-standing, chronic symptoms in particular can take a longer period of time.

How much does a TCM treatment cost and are the costs covered?

The treatment is billed according to tariff 590 every 5 minutes. A first anamnesis lasts about 75 minutes – 90 minutes and corresponds to between CHF 180 and CHF 216. Subsequent treatments take about 60min-75min depending on the complaints and costs between CHF 144 and CHF 180.

Most supplementary insurances contribute to the costs. Please clarify the coverage of your individual policy.

Is a medical referral necessary?

No, a transfer is not required. Appointments can be arranged directly. It is advisable to clarify the cost coverage with the health insurance company in advance.
